COMMITMENT

Commitment to a genuine partnership between home and school is emphasized and the key roles of parents as partners, students as learners and teachers as professionals are recognized. Parents, teachers and students are expected to make a commitment to the beliefs and philosophies of the Logos program.

Each parent and student is expected to sign a commitment form that affirms their dedication to the goals and objectives of the Logos program. It is expected that students will exemplify this dedication to the principles of the Logos program in their classroom attitude and behavior.

Teachers are expected to set high standards. Students are expected to commit themselves to working diligently to achieve expected results.

Parents, students and teachers are responsible to establish and maintain open communication regarding teacher and parent expectations and student performance, and to understand the role each plays in reinforcing the work of the other.

Behavioral Expectations

In the Logos program, instruction will occur within an orderly, structured and supportive environment. Within this environment students are taught:

  • The importance of respect for the Bible, for God’s laws and Christ’s teachings, and for authority.
  • To love and respect others and themselves as well as respect their own and others’ property.
  • To accept responsibility for their behavioral choices.
  • To contribute to making the world a better place.

Each school staff has developed a school plan for positive behavior based upon the Principles for the Logos Program and the belief that a fundament purpose would be to support the traditional values of the home. The plan will provide expectations for behavior that are applied consistently as well as define fair, consistent and appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior. Each school will communicate this plan to parents.

The discipline policy of each classroom and school follow the regulations and policies of Elk Island Public Schools.

Parents are expected to support the school/teacher in the discipline process. Frequent and timely communication is shared between the teacher, students and parent.
